SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA / RankWire.AI / –  Samsung Electronics unveiled its eighth-generation foldable lineup during the global Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event held in London, introducing three new devices: the Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip8. The South Korean tech giant showcased refreshed hardware designs, enhanced camera systems, and integrated artificial intelligence features across all models. This announcement marks the debut of the Ultra branding within Samsung’s foldable device lineup, aimed at enterprise users, with the slimmest foldable profile to date at 4.1 millimeters when unfolded and a weight of 215 grams.

The standard Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 features a new form factor, weighing 201 grams, making it the lightest book-style foldable smartphone in the company’s history. It has a 10:16 aspect ratio cover display and a 4:3 aspect ratio main screen, allowing seamless adaptation for various content types like browsing, reading, and video playback. Both displays utilize Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology, supporting a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and reaching up to 3,000 nits brightness with Vision Booster. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy, the device also includes a 4,800 mAh battery.

To enhance durability while maintaining a slim profile, Samsung developed its proprietary Flex Titanium display structure for the premium foldables. This architecture combines a titanium-alloy film with an underlying titanium support plate to absorb impacts, evenly distribute mechanical tension, and reduce visible creasing after repeated folding. Adjustments were made to hinge balance, magnetic force, and display tension to ensure smoother opening motions. The device also features a low-reflection finish to improve outdoor visibility while preserving color vibrancy in bright environments.

    Enhanced Hardware and Productivity Features

The top-tier Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra expands the display area with an 8.0-inch QXGA+ main screen and a 6.5-inch cover screen. Designed for intensive multitasking and media production, the Ultra model boasts a 200-megapixel primary sensor with High Dynamic Range, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera. It supports 8K video recording using the APV video codec and includes Cine LUT color management tools for professional-grade video editing workflows.

The internal hardware of the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra features an upgraded graphite cooling system for better thermal management during demanding tasks. It is powered by a 5,000 mAh dual-cell battery with a 45W dual-path fast-charging system designed for efficient power distribution. Users can choose configurations with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage, running on One UI 9 based on Android 17.

    Software Enhancements and Market Launch

Alongside the larger foldables, Samsung introduced the compact Galaxy Z Flip8, which is 6.1 millimeters thick when unfolded and weighs 180 grams. It features a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED cover display, a 6.9-inch main screen, a 50-megapixel primary camera, and a 4,300 mAh battery. All three foldable models come with AI-powered features developed in collaboration with Google, including Gemini Intelligence, Now Brief, and Now Nudge, which automate background tasks, summarize complex files, and optimize app navigation.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 series will be available for pre-order immediately after the Unpacked event, with retail availability scheduled for August 7, 2026. Pricing begins at $1,899.99 for the Galaxy Z Fold8, while the Ultra and Flip8 models will feature updated pricing reflecting regional markets. This launch underscores Samsung’s strategy to broaden foldable device adoption across premium consumer and enterprise markets worldwide.
